General Information   Students, Parents & Teachers   Alumni

Do you have a great idea for a collaborative performance between you and your former GSA classmates but can't rent a theater for the event? Are you a writer and want to publish a chapbook but don't have the cash to pay for printing? Do you have the opportunity to audition for a national dance company but don't know how you will afford the travel? The GSA Toyota Alumni Fund can help you overcome the financial barriers that stand in the way of you reaching an artistic dream.

Thanks to the generous support of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky Inc., these GSA alums will have pursued their artistic aspirations and goals:

Dionne C. Griffiths (Creative Writing 1995) will publish and distribute her Trinidad cultural memoirs and conduct readings from her book throughout the Louisville community starting in January 2008. The book is a springboard for future interdisciplinary arts projects.

Nicholas Mo (Drama 2005) will produce a season of quality theatre for the city of Bowling Green, Warren County, and the surrounding area. This season will be presented by Bowling Green’s only independent youth-run theatre company: the Etcetera Theatre Company, and will consist of three full-length productions and several educational and outreach workshops, performed and taught by 5 GSA alumni.

Vincent Purcell (Visual Art 2007) will be creating a photographic emulsion, and camera. Building the process up from scratch, he wants to fully understand his art-as well as be able to encourage pushing the limits of photography.

Christopher Smallwood (Instrumental Music (piano) 2003) will travel to Boston & San Francisco to perform live auditions for graduate school.

Arlyn Woodall (Instrumental Music 2003) will be studying abroad in London, England with Emily Pailthorpe, a world renowned oboist. She will be taking weekly lessons and giving a recital at the culmination of her time spent there with a pianist and chamber musician.

The desire of reaching their next artistic goal led them to apply to the Toyota Alumni Fund. If you need financial assistance to take that next step, please consider this opportunity. It's easy! The next application deadline is April 1, 2008 (applications must be received by this day). Awards are announced within a month.
