Why GSA?

GSA is more than an arts-intensive summer program - it is an opportunity to be taken seriously as a creative individual, to be connected to thousands of Kentucky’s best thinkers and artists, and to fulfill your total potential!  Did we mention the scholarship opportunities? We could go on, but we’ll let our alumni do the explaining for us:

“GSA was definitely one of my most memorable experiences. I will never forget the friends I made and how important I felt. At my school, I felt like an outcast. At GSA, I felt appreciated, and I felt even stronger in my art. I realized just how much I love it and want to promote it for the rest of my life. I really hope GSA continues to grow so others will experience what I experienced.” Julia Hunt, Musical Theatre, 2007

“GSA gave me confidence in not only my art, but in myself. I was constantly surrounded by kindred creative spirits who inspired and encouraged me. Now, I can bring that same artistic energy back to my school and community.” – Mattie Bruton, Creative Writing, 2011

“GSA was (without doubt) the most amazing, transformative 3 weeks of my life.”Juliet Bishop Meredith, Creative Writing, 1996

Check out this video by 2010 New Media alumnus Rylan Tuohy… this piece won first place in the MyGSA Video Competition, for which alumni were asked to create a short film on what GSA meant to them.

GSA doesn’t end after the three week summer program!  Explore the Alumni section of this website to learn more about the many scholarship, artistic development, and networking opportunities available to students once they become GSA Alumni.
