Throughout downtown Lexington this evening
students twirled, sang, thumped, and b-bopped their way around the
GSA Gallery Hop.
For the third year in a row the normally quiet streets of downtown
Lexington were filled with the excited voices of eager young
artists. There were conversations and demonstrations abound, all
focused on the intriguing lessons in their GSA classes. Upon
entering the first gallery though, all fell silent as they absorbed
some of the finest art from Lexington's most talented artists.

Today was Visual Art Immersion Day. It began early with a video
presentation by Ron Schildknecht and was then filled with "Smorgs"
where every student, no matter their discipline, had the opportunity
to take a crash-course in sculpture, 3D pictures, and quick
sketching. The day came to a close in the final gallery, the Morlan,
a room bursting with works from the creative minds of the GSA staff,
RAs, DAs, Interns and Faculty. The students went to bed early
tonight, exhausted after a week of, for many, the most intensive
artistic training they have ever received. They can sleep easy
however, knowing that tomorrow the entire school will be taking a
trip to Louisville where they will have the chance to rest their
legs, voices, hands, and ever-spinning creative minds
