Could it be? Surely not...a day without studio?! But on our nation's birthday, it was a reality...today was a day to REST without stepping foot in a classroom, and GSA wasted no time in celebrating not only America's freedom, but the schedule's freedom as well.
After a holiday brunch served to a hungry and well-rested school, students could grab a beach towel and bathe in the sun or wade in the pool. Others preferred to simply hang out in a lobby and enjoy each other's company and music like any other day. For a more festive twist on campus food, students also had to chance to stuff themselves at an ice cream social and a pizza party. Cheers echoed through the campus center as various sport tournaments took place, including the nail-biting finale to the Dodgeball Tournament. |

Whether it was sunbathing, guitar playing, or just good 'ole hanging out, much of GSA spent the day outside, despite the brief rainstorm.

The late afternoon brought a heavy clouds and a downpour, but dampened skies certainly didn't mean dampened spirits as some daring students took the opportunity to pay homage to the musical "Singing in the Rain." By the time evening rolled around, some took the opportunity to witness the endless cross-discipline talents of their peers at the second installment of the Coffeehouse showcase. Afterwards some students curled up to watch movies being projected in the gym, while others munched on their delivery food while watching reruns on the day's historical shuttle launch or the World Cup. However, every now and then, you could find a student in a quiet corner looking over a piece of music, making finishing touches on a sketch, or mumbling lines of a monologue, serving as a reminder of the art explosion known as Final Day that was not too far off. Today certinaly was a rest, but more importantly, it was the calm before the storm.
