New Media faculty member Clayton Hable started off his discipline’s Immersion Day with a screening of his Master’s Thesis film, Cosmos. The film’s special effects were spectacular. New Media students had the special treat of learning from visiting artists Russ Johnson who taught a lighting workshop and Kimberly Burleigh who taught a photography workshop. Merilee Elliott, Transylvania University Professor of Flute and Second Chair Flute in Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, taught a Master class for Instrumental Music students.

Today the New Media faculty taught two Smorgs, Claymation taught by Ruben Moreno and Film 101 taught by Clayton Hable.

The Architecture students took a field trip to the University of Cincinnati, a school with a strong architecture program and with buildings designed by famous architects littering the campus. They also went to the Contemporary Arts Center, designed by world renowned architect Zaha Hadid.

The Drama students went to see Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor at Equus Run. The performance was outside in the evening so that the play would end as the sun was setting, but when it started to rain, plans changed. The actors moved to a barn and gave the GSA Drama students a special performance, improvising the rest of the play and answering questions.

There was no evening performance tonight, so after the students returned from studio they got to relax around Forrer Hall before going up to their floors.

Until tomorrow, this is GSA ’08 intern Laura Lamping Greenwell signing off.
