GSA Daily: The Weekend
Saturday and Sunday, July 5-6, 2008

This was the last weekend before the Final Day Performance Festival and a chance for free time and studio.

Saturday morning the RA, DA, and Intern staff got a chance to perform for the students for Staff Personal Geography. It was incredible to see the talent we have on staff.

Saturday evening The Betweeners performed Americana music that falls somewhere between bluegrass, blues, and rock and roll, and its founding member Stephen Couch, a GSA alum, has performed at GSA in the past as a part of the duo Zoe Speaks. After the performance the students got another chance to perform on their own or with others for the evening Coffeehouse.

On Sunday morning the Vocal Musicians went to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and Lexington Green to sing as a choir, and the rest of the school had the opportunity to go to worship services or have free time before going to studio in the afternoon.

Adalhi Corn, founder of Bluegrass Youth Ballet, taught a Ballet Master Class for the Dancers and Cassandra Smith taught a stage make-up workshop.

Until tomorrow, this is GSA ’08 intern Laura Lamping Greenwell signing off.

RAs Lauren Bruker and Abby Wilson performed a dance they had been working on even before GSA began.

Intern Josh Hall, often mistaken for a former Musical Theatre student, showed the audience what he really came to GSA for--playing the oboe.
RAs Jason Newsom (pictured), Adam Kingsley, and Chris Conner performed monologues during Personal Geography.
